Montgomery Catholic's MathCounts Team Advances to State Competition
Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School's Middle School MathCounts Team advances to the state competition following their performance at the district level. Ten middle school students from Montgomery Catholic competed at the MathCounts District competition recently held at Faulkner University where their team placed second overall. All of the Montgomery Catholic team members were among the top 10 scorers who made it to the countdown round, where they competed against 40 students from several different schools. The countdown round consisted of quick response questions with the students buzzing in with the correct answers. Individually, Montgomery Catholic's Brian Lee came in fourth place, Leo Petters in sixth place, Maria Rossi in eighth place, and Mandy Jones placed ninth. These four top scorers will travel as a team to the MathCounts State Competition on March 19, in Huntsville, AL. Montgomery Catholic's MathCounts team members are Paige Barranco, Ann Faulkner, Sean Federspill, Chandler Hughes, Mandy Jones, Brian Lee, Leo Petters, Maria Rossi, William Russell, and Megan Stembridge.
