Montgomery Catholic Sixth Grader Donates Hair to Beautiful Lengths

When Courtney Wallace, a sixth grade student at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School, decided to get a new hair cut for the beginning of school, she knew just what she wanted to do with her long locks--donate them to an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients. Courtney donated nearly 10 inches of her hair to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program.

Tami at Capelli's Salon, who has always being Courtney's stylist, cut off nearly 10 inches of Courtney's hair. Courtney loves her new haircut and is proud her donated hair will make a difference in someone else's life.

Welcome Back to School!

Montgomery Catholic's St. Bede Campus Parent-Teacher Council (PTC) welcomed all of the elementary school parents to the new school year with their annual "Welcome Coffee" on the morning of the first day of school. A full-spread of delicious breakfast items, fruit, coffee, and juice awaited the parents in the parish hall. Montgomery Catholic Students Travel Abroad

High school students from Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School spent nine days touring Spain this summer. The students toured Madrid, Malaga, Toledo, Seville, Granada, and Segovia. While in Seville, they toured the Cathedral of Seville, which is the largest cathedral in Spain, and The Royal Alcazares. In Granada, the students toured the Alhambra. While in Toledo, sightseeing included the Cathedral of Toledo, the burial of the Count of Orgaz by El Greco, St. Mary's Synagogue, and a sword factory.

The students toured the Prado and a Royal Palace in Madrid and the Roman Aqueduct and a castle in Segovia. For some this was their last excursion before heading off to college, for others, it was their summer vacation. Many of the students are looking forward to future travels. Montgomery Catholic students making the trip were Tommy Hatcher, Tony Hatcher, ML Shipman, Barbara Bradley, and William Whitt. PICE Golf Tourney Set for September 25

Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School's Partners In Catholic Education (PICE) will host its eighth annual charity golf tournament at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail's Capitol Hill Course in Prattville on Friday, September 25, 2009. The tournament is just before the LPGA tournament again this year, so you know the course will be in tip-top shape!

Last year, the tournament netted over $80,000 for Catholic education, and with everyone's support, we hope to match that again this year. Registration and lunch will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. on both the Senator and Legislator courses. The format will be best ball.

The four-man scramble includes lunch, gift bags for each player filled with goodies, a golf shirt, refreshments, many door prizes, and a hole-in-one for a cruise or a new Hyundai Sonata. There will be a $5,000 putting contest between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The top three net and gross teams will receive superb prizes. The entry fee will be $600 per foursome.

Sponsorships will be available. Mark your calendar for this premiere event that will be a great day of fun and directly benefit the students at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School. For more information, go to the school website: http://www.montgomerycatholic.org/ .
