Montgomery Catholic Breaks Ground on New Dolly Barranco Student Activity Center

Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School broke ground on the Dolly Barranco Student Activity Center on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, on their Vaughn Road Campus as the culmination of a $3 million dollar capital campaign entitled "Faith in Education: FULL STEAM AHEAD!". This new building is named in tribute to our beloved cafeteria manager, Mrs. Dolly Barranco, who worked at Montgomery Catholic for over 30 years.

The Dolly Barranco Student Activity Center will be more than a cafeteria; it will be the center of student life for our school located in the heart of the Vaughn Road campus. This new center will be approximately 15,000 square feet and will provide for our students' needs for years to come. The Student Activity Center will serve as a "commons area" that will provide a climate controlled space to hold school-wide Mass, Parent-Teacher Council meetings, conferences, and any event that requires seating for up to 400 people.

All four of Dolly Barranco's children, as well as her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were on hand for this special occasion. Throwing the first dirt for the building named in honor of their mother were Nap Barranco, Carl Barranco '60, Bill Barranco '68, and David Barranco '72. The building's completion is projected for August 2008, just in time for the opening of the new school year.
