Zach Van Alst and Kylie Frank selected as Coach Tim Turner Memorial Award Winners

Zach Van Alst and Kylie Frank were selected for the Coach Tim Turner Memorial Award for excellence in Middle School athletics at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School. The award is selected by the Montgomery Catholic Athletic Booster Club and is given to a male and female eighth grade student for excellence in athletics, sportsmanship, leadership, and academics.

Mr. Travis Jarome, Montgomery Catholic Athletic Director, presented the award after the Eighth Grade Completion Mass on May 23, 2013 at the Church of the Holy Spirit.

Both students claimed state titles in their sports this year. Van Alst is the Class 3A AHSAA 106 pound Wrestling State Champion and an All-American. Frank claimed 2 State Championships in Track & Field this spring in the 1600 with a new state record and in the 400 meter dash.

The award is named in honor of the late Coach Tim Turner who valiantly coached several MCPS Middle School sports teams while bravely battling a terminal illness.
