Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School is looking forward to beginning the 2017-18 school year. Justin Castanza has been named principal at Montgomery Catholic's Middle/High School campus, a position he is familiar with after serving as interim principal for the 2016-17 school year. The High School campus will continue its new "Encounter" program, encouraging students to serve in the local community while developing peer relationships. Our Middle School campus will begin a revamped advisory program featuring daily opportunities for students to take leadership roles within the school and explore fun learning opportunities outside the traditional curriculum. Nancy Foley has been named the new principal at our Holy Spirit elementary campus. Our St. Bede elementary campus is excited to have a school Chapel on campus for students and teachers to access during the school day. We will continue our relationship with AUM's Confucius Institute offering Mandarin Chinese I & II, and our Knight News Network Studio will be live for the second year, offering students the opportunity to learn more about broadcast media. Finally, we are proud to be finishing up our Capital Campaign - Building on Faith, Family & Tradition! and hope to move forward this year by breaking ground on a new gym and expanding our performing arts classroom space at our middle/high school campus. Catholic is moving into this year with much enthusiasm and gratitude for the prayers, love and support our community has shown as we continue to build for the future! GO Knights!

Catholic's Rutland and Collett Chosen to Attend HOBY Leadership Conference this Summer
Zoe Rutland and Austin Collett were selected to represent Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School as Ambassadors for HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) . The Seminar was held at Troy University, May 26-28, 2017.
HOBY is the nation’s foremost Youth Leadership Seminar that over 10,000 deserving high school sophomores from across the country attend each year. Their mission is to inspire and develop the global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. Montgomery Catholic is proud to nominate students each year who attend the conference, and look forward to encouraging these future leaders to make an impact on our community.

Catholic Girls Track Brings Home State Championship!
The Montgomery Catholic Girl's Track team has been pushing all year. During the Indoor season these athletes brought home the runner-up trophy, but knew that with hard work and determination they would be able to add to the school's trophy case by becoming the first girls' track team in Montgomery Catholic school history to bring home the State Championship.
The team is young, and they worked hard to be stronger and faster this year. Coaches Ed Wright, Hollis Johnson, Coy Hunter and Kevin Madden are extremely proud of how hard they worked during the year. The 2017 AHSAA State Outdoor Track meet will go down in the record books with the following accomplishments by the MCPS Girl's team:
Isabelle Coachran- Winning the Long Jump, a Member of the Outdoor winning 4X800M relay, placing second in the 300 meter hurdles; Katie Galvin- Member of the Outdoor winning 4X800M relay; Katelyn Stark- Member of the Outdoor winning 4X800M relay; Amaris Tyynismaa- winning both the 1600M, and 3200M, and as a Member of the Outdoor winning 4X800M relay, placing second in the 800 meter.
Adding to the points that day were: Tamrah Tucker- second in the 100 meter dash, third in the 200 meter dash, Grace Leslie, Jimmiah Fenderson and Morgan Yorton.
Mayor Strange congratulated the team and their coaches at the June 6, 2017 City Council meeting.

Congratulations to the 142nd Graduating Class of Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School!
Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School's 142nd Commencement Exercises took place in the Father Pat Delahunty Memorial Gymnasium on the grounds of the Middle/High School campus at the Vaughn Road location on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi, Superintendent of Education Gwendolyn Byrd, Montgomery Catholic President Anne Ceasar, and High School Principal Justin Castanza were joined by Monsignor Charles Troncale, Father Patrick Driscoll '84, Father Zachary Greenwell, Father Linn Harbour, Father Victor Ingalls, Father Alex Valladares, Deacon Nicholas Napolitano and Deacon Jim Labadie, as the special guests of the class. Salutatorian Ivy Louise Bach and Co-Valedictorians David Michael Bender and Audrey Yoonah Kim addressed their fellow graduates, special guests, family and friends after the class received their diplomas from Archbishop Rodi. The class of 2017 along with Alumni sang the Montgomery Catholic Alma Mater "Catholic, Our Refuge" led by Montgomery Catholic teacher Kerri

Members of the junior and sophomore class hosted the graduates and their families at a reception in the Dolly Barranco Activity Center following the ceremony.
The 77 members of the Class of 2017 have earned $10.5 million in scholarship offers from 27 colleges and universities across the United States. Our graduates include: a Jimmy Hitchcock Award winner, 10 future college athletes, a seminarian, a U.S. Air Force Academy appointee, a United States Marine recruit, a Montgomery Fire Department recruit, and a National Merit qualifier. Their achievements have energized our Montgomery Catholic family and the have left a new school spirit for future classes to be proud of.
