Montgomery Catholic Kindergarten Family Treasures Project

Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School, St. Bede campus Kindergarten’s are working on a yearlong Family Treasures project.  Each month the students work on a special project with parents and family members. Teacher, Mrs. Debbie Redden, encouraged the families to have fun while creating a Treasure Book Binder and Book Nook to get the project started.   A Book Nook is a special spot at home designed for students to read with family members or read independently. The Treasure Binder will be filled weekly with books the students make in class.  By the end of Kindergarten, the children will have quite a library of books that they will treasure and read repeatedly and independently. Each student receives a key to the treasure binder to be kept with it. This is meant to remind them that the "key to reading success" is to practice reading every day, at home and at school!  

Montgomery Catholic Kindergarteners Celebrate Johnny Appleseed’s Birthday

September 26 was Johnny Appleseed's Birthday. The kindergartener’s at Montgomery Catholic’s     

St. Bede Elementary Campus celebrated with an Apple Tasting Party. Each student sampled caramel apples, apple pie, apple muffins, apple jelly, and apple juice and made applesauce from scratch. Each student voted on their favorite apple snack. Finishing up the week, the class made a great power point in computer class about Johnny Appleseed.

Montgomery Catholic Key Club Members completed 700 service hours!

Twenty Montgomery Catholic High School Key Club members did over 700
service hours over the summer!  These students worked on projects such
as mission trips, summer camps, Bible school, sports camps, and yard
work.  Several of them helped in the office at school getting papers
filed, classrooms cleaned and ready, and the flower beds weed-free and
pretty!. While others stayed as far away from the school as possible,
these students were in the school for hours getting things ready for
their teachers and classmates!  All volunteering their time.

Children’s author visits Montgomery Catholic Elementary Campuses in September

Michelle Nelson-Schmidt, artist and best-selling author/illustrator of “Dogs, Dogs!”, “Cats, Cats!” and “Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster”, visited K4 through 6^th graders at Montgomery Catholic’s St. Bede and Holy Spirit Elementary Campuses. Michelle gave an energetic and entertaining presentation that featured the reading of her books, showing her art, and inspiring children and adults alike to persevere and follow whatever dream is in their hearts.  The students were able to ask questions and share their own dreams with their classmates.
