Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School Leads March for Life

Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School was proud to be represented by over 100 Pilgrims at the March for Life in Washington D.C. on Friday, January 19, 2018.

Montgomery Catholic was chosen to be the group to lead the March and carry the 2018 March for Life banner, thirty of those were also chosen to attend President Trump's speech in support of the March for Life in the Rose Garden at the White House before the March began. All of this was in part due to alumna Agnes Armstrong '16, an Auburn University sophomore, who was asked to be a keynote speaker at the March for Life rally after sending a letter of support to March for Life President Jeanne Mancini. She was impressed by Miss Armstrong which lead to the invitation to the group the school travelled with to participate in such a significant way, representing the Archdiocese of Mobile and Montgomery Catholic. After a delay because of the snow, Montgomery Catholic principal and youth group leader, Justin Castanza, MCPS faculty, parents and students along with local Catholic parish youth groups made the over night bus trip to our nation's Capital to attend and lead.

A powerful experience,  as they joined 25,000 other Catholic's at their first stop and attended  Mass at the Capital One Arena, before beginning their leadership roles as supporters of the March for Life.

Snow Makes for a Great Catholic 2nd Grade Science Lesson

The City of Montgomery snow and ice event in mid-January left Montgomery Catholic St. Bede campus second graders excited to get back to school and play in the left over snow after a mid-week break. Second grade teacher Tracey Bender added "We just had to have a science lesson on snow. What a rare opportunity!" They were especially excited when their principal, Ms. Laurie Gulley joined in the fun.  They asked her to build a snowman and she was happy to help with the lesson and help burn off a little energy after being inside for a few days!

Two Montgomery Catholic Students Receive National Flight Academy Scholarship

Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School is proud to announce that two students have received scholarships from The Gathering of the Eagles Foundation for their interest in science, math and technology!

Senior Lizzie Londell and eighth grade student Cody Harris, two of just 25 students in Montgomery who received scholarships on January 10 from the GOE-Foundation, and the National Flight Academy at Montgomery’s City Hall.

The Gathering of Eagles Foundation is a private, non-profit organization that aims to preserve the United State Air Force's legacy through the celebration of 70 years of Airpower. The GOE Foundation exists to provide financial support to enhance Air Command and Staff College's Gathering of Eagles program, an annual educational event geared to allow the ACSC student body to learn from and honor men and women who have made significant contributions to air, space and cyberspace power. For over 30 years, Eagles have shared their stories with ACSC in an effort to inspire today's military leaders to achieve greatness in support of their country.

Londell and Harris were selected to attend a "cruise" at the National Flight Academy in Pensecola, Florida February 17-19.  The scholarship includes tuition, lodging, food, and transportation.  Students are chosen from a pool of essay applicants from around the Montgomery area.

The experience will include three days of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) focused education and fun.  Both Londell and Harris will attend the "Codebreakers" program.

Lizzie is the daughter of Iwona and Scott Londell of Wetumpka. Cody is the son of Jo Ann Harris of Montgomery.
