Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School Junior, James Sherman Ranks #1 Recruit in the Nation
Montgomery
Catholic Preparatory School junior James
Sherman ranks as the number one kicking recruit in the nation for the
class of 2014 by three separate kicking camps in 2012.
In July, Sherman attended
Kohl's Kicking National Scholarship Camp in Wisconsin, who ranked him as a
5 star kicker and the number #1 recruit for the class of 2014; there were 430
athletes at the camp, 142 in his class. At Chris Sailer’s Kicking Camp in
Tuscaloosa, Sherman made the “All Saban” team for the second year in a row.
While attending Chicago’s Chris Sailer Camp this summer, Sherman was named
as one of four camp MVP's and ranked #1 in the nation for the class of 2014 out
of the 130 student athletes that attended. James also worked with Team Jackson
Kicking in Dothan, Alabama and earned another #1 ranking. Sherman has also trained with Coach Mike
McCabe at One-on-One Kicking in Prattville and with John Carney, former kicker
of the New Orleans' Saints, who encouraged Sherman to continue kicking.
Montgomery Catholic’s
varsity football coach, Mike Shatzer called third year letterman, Sherman “ a
good team player and one of the hardest working kids in the school. James is
committed to success in all areas, not just athletics.”
James is the son of Craig and Diane Sherman. He is looking
forward to the upcoming football season followed by recruiting season.

Montgomery Catholic’s newest campus receives a Baptist Health Care Foundation Gift
The Baptist Health
Care Foundation donated a defibrillator to Montgomery Catholic Preparatory
School’s newest elementary campus, Holy Spirit on August 22, 2012.
Mr. Russ Tyner, Baptist
Health President and CEO, and Ben F. Kelley, Jr., Baptist Health Care Foundation
Vice President, presented the defibrillator to Montgomery Catholic’s President,
Anne Ceasar, and Holy Spirit Administrative team members, Mary Kelley and Ken
Klinger. Anne Ceasar commented on the
gift, saying “We are so appreciative to the Baptist Health Care Foundation for
the very generous donation of the defibrillator to our Holy Spirit elementary
campus, we appreciate their support of our community.”

Montgomery Catholic students shine on stage.
Two current Montgomery Catholic students and a
recent graduate took to the stage in Oliver! the musical at the Faulkner Dinner
Theatre, landing two of the leading roles. Alicia Ruth Jackson, MCPS class of
2011 and a sophomore at Faulkner University, played Nancy; Matthew Klinger a 6th
grader played Oliver Twist; and Emily Klinger a 3rd grader played an
orphan and gang member.
Rehearsals began at the end of June. The
students were in a total of 12 performances, Thursday - Saturday each week in
August.

Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School’s New Holy Spirit Campus dedicated by Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi

The Holy Spirit Catholic Church Parish along
with Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School celebrated the dedication of the
new Holy Spirit Education Complex on Sunday, August 12th. The first new building in the Education
Complex will serve as both Religious Education classrooms and church meeting
rooms for the Parish and as the second elementary campus for Montgomery
Catholic, joining the St. Bede Campus in serving students pre-kindergarten
through 6th grades.
The dedication ceremony began with Mass at 11 AM
at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, followed by the dedication and blessing of the
complex by Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi. The Pastor of Holy Spirit, Rev. Patrick
R. Driscoll, welcomed guests as the ceremony began. Special recognition and speakers included: Rev.
Msgr. F. Charles Troncale, Pastor Emeritus; Mr. Nap Barranco, Chairman of the
Options Committee; and Mrs. Anne Ceasar, President of Montgomery Catholic
Preparatory School; all of whom spoke of the excitement
of the project and the success and joy of opening a new school. The celebration concluded with classroom
tours and lunch in the Parish Hall. The hosts of the day’s events were: Holy
Spirit’s Pastoral Council, Finance Council, Building in the Spirit Committee
and the Knights of Columbus.
The new campus comprised of 19.6 acres has
completed Phase I, which includes the 26,000 square-foot two-story classroom
building for pre-kindergarten through 6th grades. Phase II will include a multi-purpose
building that will house the gym and finally, Phase III will include a Church
and School Administrative building.
Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School, founded
in 1873 is the oldest continually operating non-public school in the state of
Alabama. As it opens for classes on
August 20th, the Holy Spirit elementary campus, located at 8580
Vaughn Road across from the Wynlakes subdivision, will serve the growing Holy
Spirit Parish and add a fourth campus for MCPS. Joining the St. Bede elementary
campus, and the middle and high school campuses. Montgomery Catholic offers K4
through grade 12 and is accredited by SACS.

Vicki Dickson Named Public Relations Director for Montgomery Catholic
Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School names Vicki Dickson as the Public Relations Director.
"As a third-generation Knight, Vicki has a true passion for and rich history with our school. More importantly, she comes with the experience, skill set, and relationships in the industry that will help us continue in the forward movement of promoting Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School, our students, and their many accomplishments," said Anne Ceasar, school president.
A native of Montgomery, Dickson attended Montgomery Catholic from first through 12th grade and is a member of the class of 1991. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Auburn University and has worked in the media industry for the past 14 years. Dickson and her husband, Foster, have been married for 11 years and have two children, Jehle and Henry. They are active members of St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church in Montgomery.
"I am so thankful to be joining the Montgomery Catholic family, again. After 21 years, the growth and changes in my alma mater are inspiring. It is exciting to know and promote all that Montgomery Catholic now has to offer our community and I look forward to being a part of its future," said Dickson.
Dickson begins her role as Public Relations Director on August 6.
